Since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine finds itself in a vulnerable situation that challenges the entire social system. Swedish companies can support Ukraine by donating resources that help Ukraine maintain its resilience. Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency ("**MSB**") can help the companies to implement such donations as long as they correspond to Ukraine's requested needs. MSB can support by coordinating and transporting the donations to recipients in Ukraine. In that case, the transport is procured and paid for by MSB.

Swedish donations have helped the authorities in Ukraine to carry out socially important activities since 2022. As time goes on and the war drags on, MSB has noted that offers of donations have decreased. The need for materiel and equipment to maintain resilience is still very high in Ukraine. At the same time, there is a large amount of equipment among Swedish companies and authorities that matches Ukraine's needs and could be spared for the benefit of Ukraine's resilience.

At the webinar, MSB presented its' role in the support to Ukraine and how MSB can help companies through the entire donation process. MSB has also described the priority needs expressed by Ukraine and what kind of support is requested.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has left a devastating impact on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Many Ukrainian homes, businesses, hospitals, and schools are now without electricity, heat, and hot water. Meanwhile, Ukrainian energy companies are grappling with the challenges of repairing the damaged energy infrastructure.

The reconstruction requirements for Ukraine’s energy and extractive sectors have already surpassed SEK 470 billion, as revealed by joint assessments from the Government of Ukraine, World Bank Group, European Commission, and United Nations (RDNA2). This situation opens substantial opportunities for international businesses to contribute to the upcoming reconstruction efforts. Considering the diverse possibilities in this evolving scenario, Swedish energy companies can play a pivotal role in Ukraine’s recovery, facilitating a seamless transition towards a greener and more sustainable economy.

The renewed presence of Business Sweden in Ukraine is aimed at fostering collaboration between Swedish and Ukrainian actors in the energy sector to support Ukraine’s reconstruction. Through a partnership between BuS Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the webinar "Rebuilding Ukraine’s Energy Sector: Opportunities for Swedish Businesses" seeks to underscore the remarkable potential for the Swedish private sector’s involvement in meeting the current needs of Ukraine’s energy system. According to the same estimates, rebuilding the damaged and destroyed infrastructure, while transitioning to more energy-efficient and smart solutions, will require over SEK 490 billion. Achieving this goal is contingent on the support of a broad coalition of international donors, and the Ministry of Energy is actively working to ensure the effective utilization of existing platforms to address Ukraine’s critical energy needs.*

Swedish pavilion at ReBuild Ukraine - Health & Rehabilitation 

**Swecare and the Swedish Embassy in Kyiv invite you to this webinar, aiming to give a better understanding of the needs and priorities for the reconstruction and recovery of healthcare in Ukraine.**
 
Since February 2022, Ukraine's health sector has endured substantial destruction, with heavy effects on healthcare infrastructure and delivery. According to World Bank estimations, approximately $1.4 billion in damage has been inflicted on health facilities and pharmacies. The country’s medical system total loss from the war amounts to approx. $17.8 billion. This damage is significantly impacting the population's health due to forgone care and heightened public health threats. Over the next decade, Ukraine will need $14.2 billion for reconstruction and recovery of healthcare.
 
According to a joint assessment of the Government of Ukraine, World Bank, EU and UN, the immediate priorities for 2024 are strengthening primary and secondary health care including equipment, construction and repairs to health facilities, investments in mental health services and rehabilitation, amounting to an urgent need of $872.6 million.
 
While the war is ongoing, the Government of Ukraine is leading recovery and reconstruction efforts in healthcare. In order to understand these efforts better, Swecare and the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine invite you to a meeting with Ukrainian key decision makers in the area of healthcare

Presentation by the Ministry of Health on the Needs and Priorities for Ukraine's Healthcare

Since October 2022, Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been specifically targeted by extensive drone and missile attacks from Russia. These attacks intensified significantly in March 2024. By May 2024, Ukraine had lost nearly 9 GW of its power generation capacity, with about 60% of its energy generation facilities either destroyed, damaged, or seized. This heavy pressure has forced Ukrainian businesses and society to adapt to frequent power outages, invest in backup power sources, and explore sustainable energy solutions.

The Ukrainian government, local municipalities, the private sector, and international financial institutions are all prioritizing investments to revitalize the energy sector. The reconstruction needs for Ukraine’s energy and extractive industries have already exceeded SEK 516 billion, according to joint assessments by the Ukrainian government, World Bank Group, European Commission, and United Nations (RDNA3). This situation presents significant opportunities for international businesses to contribute to the reconstruction efforts. Given the evolving landscape, Swedish energy companies could play a crucial role in Ukraine’s recovery, supporting a smooth transition to a greener and more sustainable economy.

In January 2024, the first webinar in a partnership between BuS Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine took place. The second webinar was to highlight the recent changes and stimuli provided by the government to overcome the challenges and prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 winter season as well as recent developments aimed at boosting distributed generation introduction in Ukraine. Business Resilience in Ukraine: Navigating Challenges of War, Insights for 2024

**The Ministry for Foreign Affairs (the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, UD-EC), Business Sweden, and the Swedish Embassy in Kyiv are teaming up to organize a business-oriented seminar on the procurement of international financial institutions in Kyiv, Ukraine. The event is scheduled to take place at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Malmtorgsgatan 3, on June 13, 2024 (Venue: Bankhallen)**.

A significant portion of the world’s financial support for Ukraine flows through international financial institutions (IFIs), which procure goods and services according to Ukraine’s needs, interests, and demand. Consequently, the involvement and participation of Swedish companies in supporting Ukraine partly hinge on understanding how these institutions operate and how companies can engage in their international tender procedures.

We anticipate a strong interest among Swedish companies in gaining insights into IFIs' operations and procurement processes in Ukraine. To facilitate this, we have invited the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank (WB), and the state-owned Ukrainian procurement agency Prozorro to present their respective tendering processes and engage in direct dialogue with companies in a workshop format.

The International Exhibition & Conference "Rebuild Ukraine: Construction & Energy," to be held in Warsaw, Poland on November 13-14, 2024, provides a unique offline platform for recovery projects, materials, technologies, equipment and investments required to rebuild Ukraine's war-torn economy, with an emphasis on infrastructure, industry, energy and housing. 

A Swedish pavilion dedicated to constructing, energy, housing & Green Tech is being organized in cooperation with Business Sweden, providing a venue for Swedish companies, authorities, and other relevant organizations to demonstrate Sweden's capabilities in these areas.

Swecare, within the project "Support to Sustainable Healthcare in Ukraine", cordially invites you to participate in the first webinar of our series. 

Ukraine's health sector has taken substantial damage, with detrimental effect on the healthcare infrastructure and delivery, as well as significant impact on the population's health due to forgone care and heightened public health threats. Over the course of not years but decades, it is estimated that Ukraine will need $14.2 billion for the reconstruction and recovery of its healthcare.

This webinar offers insights into Ukraine’s health system and the electronic framework of public procurement as a crucial part of the ongoing healthcare reform. It will introduce you to the key stakeholders forming demand for medical products and regulating their use.

As a result, you will be better able to match your solution and knowledge to the needs of the Ukrainian healthcare system and become a part of the recovery process.

Ukrainian Healthcare System

Swecare, within the project "Support to Sustainable Healthcare in Ukraine", cordially invites you to participate in the second webinar of our series. 

It has been established that Ukraine will need $14.2 billion for the reconstruction of its healthcare system. Nonetheless, it has a lot going for it: a progressive reform, transparent procurement platforms and a civil society overseeing its development.

This webinar will introduce you to the economic parameters of the Ukrainian medical device and pharma market, and will look into centralised procurement that supplies a share of its needs. We will see how healthcare data from hospitals is collected to form aggregate demand, and watch the junction where civil society and international aid create opportunities for cooperation.
