Sweden and Ukraine strengthen healthcare cooperation: Swedish delegation led by the Swedish Minister for Health Care of Sweden Acko Ankarberg Johansson visited Kyiv

On October 15-16, 2024, a Swedish delegation led by Minister for Health Care Acko Ankarberg Johansson visited Kyiv to bolster ties in the healthcare sector. The delegation included representatives from leading Swedish healthcare companies.

During the visit, Minister Johansson together with the Swedish delegation, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, and Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko participated in the presentation of Ukraine’s first handbook on life after spinal cord injuries: “SPINALIS: A New Page of Life with Spinal Cord Injury”. In addition, during the event the Spinalis Foundation and the Rivne Regional War Veterans Hospital signed a memorandum on medical partnership.

Additionally, a technical agreement was signed by the Swedish and Ukrainian health ministers to enhance bilateral cooperation in healthcare and public health, aimed at addressing challenges caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, representatives from Swedish healthcare companies had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Ukrainian healthcare market, as well as to held preliminary meetings with potential Ukrainian partners to explore future collaborations.

The delegation was organized jointly by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Östkontoret, Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv and Business Sweden.
